Happy Mother's Day!
I know this is a little bit late- but better late than never! I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous, wonderful moms out there but mostly to my mom and my mother-in-law.
I always appreciated my mom for all the wonderful things she did for me and our family but my appreciation grew exponentially when I became a mother. I've learned that being a mom is a difficult job but it is definitely the most rewarding. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a mother and to have such a beautiful daughter and loving husband to support me. It is continually a learning process for me but I am enjoying it!
Mom & Pam- thank you so much for being such wonderful examples of what a mother should be and do. You truly are amazing & such strong women! I have a lot to live up to! We love you both so much and are so grateful to have you in our lives! Thank you for your love and support through everything! Thank you for being such wonderful grandmas to Addie!

Addie and Her Pony
We took Addie to This is the Place Heritage Park today because they had a lot of baby animals that she could ride and hold. Addie loves animals, but is selective when it comes to which one she'll touch or let them touch her. With that said, it came as a surprise that would ride on the pony since she wouldn't step on the grass barefoot. Overall she had a good time and will be posting more photos soon.

The Chicken Dance
On Easter, Addie received a chicken from Aunt Livi that plays and waddles around to the chicken dance music. So periodically we pull it out and teach her how to do all the action to it. Since Easter she, not to mention Court and I, have gotten pretty good at the ol' chicken dance.
This morning Court pulled it out and Addie wowed us with her performance. One thing to note is that Addie got the short end of the stick when it came to rhythm thanks to her parents. Her dancing is cute now, but if she's still at the same level come seventh grade, we'll have to break the news to her that she's no good and needs to stop.

Smart Kid
It seems like it's been a while since I last posted on this blog, but fortunately for me Court's been shouldering the blogging load.
We are quickly learning that Addie is more and more like her mother, not just because she's pretty like her, but because she's got her mom's smarts. Not to discredit myself, but 90 percent of what Addie knows is a direct result of Court's interaction. The two things that I can openly take credit for are teaching Addie to give "bones" (hitting closed fists together) and how to burp -- I've never been so proud and I think her ability to burp loud may keep boys away in the future.
Back to the point. We think Addie's smart and that she's smarter than every kid -- yes, I'm playing the my-kid's-smarter-than-your-kid card. Yesterday while Court was straightening up our room and Addie was pulling books off the shelf, she grabbed a book called Women in Pain and walked up to Court and showed her the book and said, "She's sad." Referring to the old women on the cover (see below). We've never showed her that book and haven't shown her the difference between happy and sad, so it was more evident that Addie's a smart, observant kid.
