Memorial Day

We had a good Memorial Day weekend despite the yucky weather. Sunday night, we spent the evening with Clay's family and went to the cemetery to "give Gord a haircut" (according to Clay). The kids had fun playing and running around.

On Monday, we were supposed to head up to the zoo with my family but it was pouring rain so we went to breakfast instead. At breakfast, Addie convinced Grandpa (I'm sure it wasn't hard) to buy her a pink doggie which she named Sweetie Pie.

After breakfast, we decided to head down to Farm Country in between rain storms. We got rained on a little but Addie had a blast running around, riding the pony three times and feeding the goats.

I can't believe it's almost June! This year is going by way too fast!

Potty Training - Week 1

We finished our first week of potty training. It really wasn't bad! We must have hit it at just the right time. Addie didn't have a single accident while wearing underwear this week. She stayed dry through some of her naps and even a couple of nights. We were very proud of her. As a result, we took her Saturday night to buy a stuffed animal dog that she'd been wanting.

Here she is with her completed sticker chart and her new dog, Braxton (named after the dog she loves to walk even though it doesn't look a thing like him).

I'm hoping we will soon get to the point where she'll start telling me instead of me having to remind her to go. The long-term goal/prize once she's completely day trained for a few weeks is her very own pink scooter that she's wanted since she got to try it out last summer.

It feels nice to not be changing diapers all the time. We're continuing the sticker chart for another week or two. Hopefully week two goes as well as the first!

It's a GIRL!!!!

We are back from our ultrasound and we found out that Baby #2 is going to be a girl! Addie is going to have a little sister! She is healthy and everything looks normal.

The ultrasound was really fun. The machine was able to go back and forth between regular and 3D so we got to see it look a little more like a baby (or an alien baby) a few times. She was extremely active during the ultrasound so it makes us a little nervous that she's going to be as busy as Addie. The Dr. was 90% sure it was a girl and will do another ultrasound next time to try and confirm it. We're pretty sure it's a girl though.

Good news? We have everything we need for a girl born at that time of year! Bad news? 20 years from now when they are getting married it's going to be expensive!

Life has been so busy with Addie that it's been harder for us to feel as connected to this pregnancy like we did with Addie. I think knowing it's a girl will help it feel more real! Only 5 months to go! I am excited for Addie to have a little sister so close. I'm sure we'll have days filled with drama but I think they will have a good time together!

We don't have any names picked out yet (although, I'm sure a few of the ones from last time will be in the running). If anyone has any suggestions- post a comment!

Potty Update

We have made it through two days of potty training and so far have only used two pair of panties! Addie has responded really well to wearing the panties and has not had any accidents yet. She even stayed dry during her nap yesterday and ALL NIGHT last night!

We are having a few issues with going #2 but I'm sure it's normal and will come with time. I'm really looking forward to the time when she will tell me she has to go instead of me taking her all the time.

She loves her sticker chart and she loves being a BIG GIRL! Here is the proud little one with her chart at the end of the night tonight!

She was also able to have her Gaga come babysit tonight while we went out. She had a great time and was all smiles when we came home. Gaga made her a dancing skirt! She was in heaven! Thanks Gaga!

Update!

For those of you who haven't noticed- we started a poll over on the side of the blog. We are going in for our ultrasound this week and will hopefully be finding out whether No. 2 is a girl or a boy. What do you think it's going to be? Take a minute and vote!! We'll post once we know or have some pictures from the ultrasound.

We are also having an exciting week for Addie! She is officially a big girl and we are going all or nothing on the potty training. I know I mentioned we were starting it awhile back but I got really tired and ran out of steam to continue so she ended up back in diapers. Well, today, I decided we were going ahead with panties and NO MORE DIAPERS (I didn't want to buy another pack!)

I made her a sticker chart to help her stay motivated and she has taken to it pretty well. We are half way through the day and she was still in her first pair of panties. She even stayed dry while we went to the store to let her pick out some more panties and get some fun drinks for her. We'll see how things go the second half of the day!

Here is a picture of her this morning after she went on the potty the first time! So proud!

Hopefully, she continues to do well and we don't have any more couch incidents!

New Videos

Here are a couple new videos we've taken of Addie lately. Hope they make you smile as much as they did me!

This first one is of her imitating a girl on the TV doing jumping jacks for exercise. I thought it was hilarious.

She has decided she loves to dance and do ballet recently. Here is a little video of her latest dance move-the ballet spin.

This last one is of her with her tap shoes. She got them from her cousin and she loves to wear them around and tap (or jump and shuffle her feet) to make noise. She also usually sings while she does it. In this one, she is singing "I love to dance".

Rex & Pammy's Wedding

On Thursday, May 1st, Gaga (Pammy) finally married Rex! We were wondering if this day would ever come! The wedding ceremony was held at the Homestead in Midway and it was a beautiful setting. Somehow, the snow that was falling everywhere else had missed Midway. It was a little chilly but we were able to get some pictures of everyone outside.

It was great to have the whole family together and we are all so happy for Gaga & Rex. We hope they have a wonderful, happy life together.

Addie loved going to the wedding and wearing her pretty dress. She is all girl. One of the flowers fell out of Gaga's bouquet and they gave it to Addie. She brought it over to Clay and I and said, "Look Dad! I'm getting married!" Clay was less than thrilled to be hearing that out of her mouth at this age.

Congratulations Gaga and Grandpa Rex! We love you!

Funny Conversation

One of Addie's favorite books to read lately is Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. She enjoys it so much that she has a couple of the pages completely memorized.

After getting home from Gaga's wedding yesterday, we were eating dinner. She kept whining and wanting to get down. We explained to her that if she got down, she would not be playing but going straight to bed.

Here is how the conversation went:

Clay: Time to go to bed.

Addie: I don't want to go to bed.

Clay: But you are tired and had such a fun day!

Addie: Not a fun day! It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day!

We couldn't help but laugh. It was so funny. She still went straight to bed though.
