Dancing Queen

Addie started her first dance class at the beginning of August. We figured we needed to let her try a few different things to see what she really enjoys and wanted to give dance a shot before she got too much older. Of course, if genes have anything to do with it, we doubt dance is going to be a strong point since neither Clay or I have any rhythm.

She sure makes a cute little dancer though (and is quite the poser).



She was really excited to go to dance- especially since she's in a class with some other girls from the neighborhood. Hopefully it will be a good experience for her. I'm sure there will be many more posts about dance to come!

She also makes a great big sister...just had to add these shots of my cute kiddos in!

Trampoline!

Now that we have a backyard and some space for the kids to run around, we decided we needed some stuff for them to do out there. I originally wanted to get a playset thinking that more kids could play on it at one time but Clay wanted to get a trampoline because he had one as a kid and has lots of good (and crazy) memories about it. I always swore I would never have a trampoline because they are so dangerous!!

After spending more time with Will on playsets, I decided that it was not a good idea for our backyard if I ever wanted to be able to relax (he just wants to climb up and down stairs and I'm always afraid he's going to fall through the open areas)! A trampoline would probably be safer because at least it has a net around it now!

So, we got a trampoline! It arrived last week and Addie was so excited to jump on it once Clay got it set up! She was out jumping at 9am the next morning! Will is still unsure of it. At least it gives the kids something to do outside besides dig in the dirt. It will be even better when we get our grass/yard in!





Her cousin, Colton, came over for a playdate today and taught Addie how to play Deadman, Deadman and Crack the Egg. Here she is trying not to get cracked- and yes, I'm pretty sure she's cheating!

Random

Just some random stuff from end of July/ beginning of August...

While eating a churro at Costco one day, Addie said, "Mom, I'm a churro lover". Can't blame her- they are pretty good.

We were at Kid to Kid one day looking for dance shoes for Addie. While there, Will managed to find a Barbie car that he couldn't part with. I decided since it was blue, and a VW bug with only a few flowers on it, it wasn't too girly. He wouldn't put the thing down in the car and then as soon as we got home was pushing it all over the house with Buzz in it.


Went to the splash park with some friends. This picture was just too cute.

Will loves to go "pay" at the park. He likes to climb through tunnels and go down the slide.


Gaga came to babysit one day after soccer so Clay and I could go out for our anniversary. The kids love it when Gaga comes to play!

We love our neighborhood (especially our street)...many nights are spent just like the one pictured here...so fun!

The sunset one night...amazing!

Took the kids to the aquarium...Will only liked the little fish tanks and Addie did not want to be there. Lots of fun (sense the sarcasm).


A crazy summer lightening storm (our power went out and these were taken around midnight!)


Took Addie to the dentist for a checkup and teeth cleaning. She did awesome...and NO CAVITIES! Yay!

Farm Country

A few weeks ago, we decided to take a family outing to Farm Country and Thanksgiving Point. We have an annual pass there because it's close, inexpensive and the kids love to go. It's actually been a few months since our last trip but Will's really into horses and animals right now so we thought he would really enjoy it.

It started off really well, he loved seeing the baby chicks in the incubators and he was really excited to see the animals. He was running around, pointing at them but keeping a safe distance.



He got a little nervous when the sheep started "baaing" and he held his hands together a lot of the time (what he does when he's unsure of something).

He managed to hold it all together until we were done feeding the ducks and geese and they started making a commotion and then he lost it. He was paralyzed in fear and just stood on the ramp crying. Of course, being the good mom I am, I snapped a few pictures before we rescued him (and they are just classic!)



We went in the little farm to market room they have because the kids like to play in there and it's air conditioned!

Once we went back outside, we decided to give the pony ride a try. He did not want to get on that pony but we persisted and he did stop crying and seemed to kind of enjoy it- as long as he could continue to hold on to me with his death grip!

After the ride was over, I left him on the horse and stepped back just a bit to take a picture of him on it (I still had my hand on his leg) but while I did that, the horse "neighed" and moved a bit and it really freaked him out...he wanted off of that pony!

They had a cute little baby pony that was just Addie's size!

And a trip to the farm isn't complete without a stop at Iceberg for some ice cream!

July 24th Weekend

We had a fun 24th of July weekend. We took advantage of Clay being off work on Friday and some free tickets and took the kids to see Toy Story 3. Unfortunately, we bought tickets for the 3D movie and that wasn't great but it wasn't too bad without the glasses (the kids wouldn't wear them). We managed to stay in the theater the whole movie but Will was climbing around a lot of the time- luckily it wasn't crowded! I think he liked the sign outside the theater more than the actual movie!

On Saturday morning, Clay took Addie to the Lowe's Build and Grow workshop and then when they came home, I took them off to the splash park while Clay got a start on mowing down the weeds. They played out in our dirt when we got back and while Clay was out mowing and got filthy!!! There was a layer of sand/dirt in the tub when they got out of the bath!



Around 3:30, I took Addie over to the Cottonwood Heights Butlerville Days parade. She got to ride on the wagon with Grandpa (mayor) and Grandma and throw candy to the kids.


Once they were done with their part of the parade, we found a spot to watch the rest. It was fun to see some of the floats from the big Days of 47 parade. The highlight was the fire truck...they would stop every so often and then take the cap off the front hose and spray the kids that ran out in the street. Addie got soaking wet but I'm sure it felt good since it was sooo hot outside.





We met up with some of the family and headed over to the Butlerville Days celebration area....Addie ran under the firehose spray again (this time it was just a mist) and convinced Uncle Carson to go with her. Then we headed over to the dunk tank to throw the balls and dunk the mayor (Grandpa).



A few of us left and met up with Clay and Will to get some dinner but Addie stayed with Grandma and Mitch and Cardin to do some inflatable slides and other stuff. (we wanted a break from the heat)! She had a blast as you can see from the pictures!



Addie had been begging me to try the climbing wall all afternoon so when we got back, we took her over to try it. She was so excited. They got her all hooked up and I think she climbed up one pull and then she was done! I think it was too much work!




Addie did more inflatable rides and I followed Will while he walked all around. Once it got dark, we put out our blankets and watched the fireworks. It was a fun and very full day!!!
