Escaping the heat!

We've been heading up to the mountains several times this month to escape the heat! It's great having them so close and hopefully we can get up there a few more times this summer.

One night we headed up to Ledgemere to meet up with the Jones family for a hot dog cookout. Addie likes being around Zach and Easton and Zach is so good with the younger kids. Addie loves cooking the hot dogs but she won't eat them! The boys went on a hike
up the hill from our picnic area and then they threw some rocks in the river. We always have such a good time doing this!

Clay went and hiked Mount Olympus with his friend Adam one Saturday morning. Beautiful views but it was a pretty tough hike!

Clay came home a little early one Friday and we headed up to Silver Lake for a picnic with Gaga, Grandpa Rex, Ana & Aidan. The kids loved chasing the rodents around and throwing food to them. It was a nice walk around the lake - especially with Gaga's double jogging stroller we borrowed!

The next night, Clay gave me the night off and took the kids on a hike to Cecret Lake with some of his family. Addie hiked the whole way to the top herself and Clay ended up carrying Will in his arms because they forgot to take the backpack to carry him! They all had a great time and I was able to enjoy some time to myself and get a few things done around the house!

4th of July Weekend continued

We had a really late night with the rodeo on Friday so we took it easy in the morning on Saturday then met up with the rest of the family at a bowling alley to do a little bowling. Addie lasted about 5 frames and then moved on to the arcade.

After bowling, we were going to go swimming but the weather was a little overcast so we decided to go see Ice Age 3. We attempted to take Will thinking he might do ok and maybe fall asleep but Clay ended up leaving about halfway through to take him home for a nap.

Later that evening, we ended the weekend with a family BBQ and swimming at my Grandma & Grandpa's house. The kids were tired and the water was a little chilly so swimming didn't last too long.

It was a fun weekend but we are glad these kinds of things only happen a few times a year. It's exhausting!

Oakley Rodeo

After a long day at the park, we came home, rested and got ready to head up to the Oakley Rodeo. The Oakley Rodeo is a family tradition with my side of the family and we look forward to it each year.
Addie spent the evening with Grandpa and whoever had the best candy. There was a lot of climbing in a very small area involved. Not sure she watched much of the rodeo.

Will did great- especially considering it didn't start until after he's usually in bed! I think he even watched some of the animals running past us. He was a flirt with my aunt Cami who was sitting behind us but spent most of the night on my lap.

It was a long day and a late night but we had a lot of fun!
