Sam- 6 months

The last exciting thing that happened in December was that Sam turned 6 months old!!!  He is such a good baby!!!

His six month well check was not so well!!!  The Dr. was checking him out only to discover that he had two bulging red ear infections AND his bronchiolitis from at least two weeks earlier hadn't cleared up all the way so they had to deep suction him out.  It wasn't fun for any of us!   His sleep hadn't been great for the last little bit - No wonder! Really though, it obviously wasn't bad enough for me to think he might be sick besides a little cold/cough.   Poor little guy.  The good news was that he didn't have to get his shots that day since he wasn't feeling well! He is still so smiley despite feeling so crappy!

His 6 month stats were: 15.9 lbs (22%), 27" (73%) and head circumference was 83rd %!  He is built a lot like his sister- long and lean with a big head!

Sleep is going pretty well when he isn't sick! He still goes back and forth between 2-3 naps depending on what time he wakes up for the day and how long his naps are!  He is doing pretty good at night- maybe waking once at night but only a couple times a week.   He is starting to love his lovies, or his "bebe's" as we call them.  He has started sticking one corner in his mouth and sucking on it!  So cute.   One day when he was taking a nap at my mom's, he fell asleep with them covering his whole face!

He LOVES his baths!  He is a splasher and a squealer!  Here is a video of him enjoying his bath one night!

His biggest accomplishment is that he started sitting on his own!!!  Yay!  It seems like babies are so much happier once they can sit up and look around on his own.  He wasn't a big fan of the Bumbo so it will be nice to let him sit on his own and play instead of having to make sure he doesn't flip himself out of the bumbo!

He is starting to move a tiny bit when he's on his tummy.  He mostly just rolls to where he wants to be.

Eating is going ok.  We tried to switch him off the Good Start Formula because he was spitting up a lot hours after a bottle (and it gives him terrible smelling gas and poop!) but it was unsuccessful.  It made him fussy and uncomfortable so we decided to just stick it out with the regular stuff for another six months. We are still slowly working on the solids with him.  He does like cereal mixed with smashed bananas so that's what we've been giving him mostly.  He likes to hold onto the spoon so it's a real mess!

He loves playing with Will (and Addie too but she's at school a lot of the time so the majority of the pictures are of Sam and Will).  Will is so good with him too.  I hope that they are able to have a close bond with each other!

We are so lucky to have such a sweet little person in our home! He makes everyone smile and happy when they see him.   I can't believe we are halfway to a year!  I really love this age and wish I could freeze him!  Just a few of my faves from the month...

Love that dimple!!!

What are these things?!?

Fell asleep while Ashley was tickling his back!

Love you Sammy boy!!!

Christmas Day

Christmas Morning is one of our favorite days at our house...both for the parents and the kids! Clay and I remember our childhood Christmas' being so magical so we try to make it exciting and magical for our kids too!

Looks like Santa made it to our house!!!

The kids were pretty excited to see what he brought!!!  Love their faces and the pointing!

We checked out the stocking stuff first....

Then we opened presents! Sam even got in on it!

Addie was pretty excited about her surprise present (a hamster) from Mom and Dad!  Unfortunately, the hamster was a little scared and unsure of things and so she gave Addie a little nibble on her first try at holding her!

The kids played with some of their toys and built some legos.    It was such a fun morning!

Family photo op....

Grandpa and Grandma stopped by for a few minutes to see what they got!

A little later we headed to Gaga's house.  The kids had fun playing with cousins and got to open a present from Gaga.  Will was pretty excited about his- it was the lego set he had really been hoping for!

I love that in this picture, the grandkids are opening our present for GAGA while she is snapping pictures of them!

The boys passed out quickly on the way home...it was a long day for them!

Then comes one of my most favorite Christmas traditions!  Put the kids to bed early and Clay and I enjoy a quiet and YUMMY Surf & Turf dinner!

Since Will had a nap, he was having a hard time sleeping so he actually got back up and he and Clay finished putting his big lego jet together.  Pretty happy kid!!!

Such a great Christmas.  We feel especially blessed.   We love the Christmas season to help us reflect on and be grateful for all that we have.  We are so lucky to have amazing family, friends, a beautiful home, food, clothes, transportation, toys, and most important, the gospel and the knowledge that we will be together forever.

Merry Christmas 2013!!!!
