One Liners
As she was at Gaga's house the other day, she got to stacking candles that were still in the glass holders. She dropped and chipped part of one of the holders. I told her that she better go tell Gaga what she did and "tell her you're sorry." Before I go any further, I should disclose that Addie has been diagnosed with a disease that makes her cry when she has to apologize. It's hereditary, and got it from me.
So Addie sat there for a minute with her head hanging low and then said, "I think I'll just tell her something else."
On Sunday, Addie decided to wake up at 7:45 a.m. Since we weren't ready to get up, we had her lay in our bed with us, hoping that she would go back to sleep or at least lay quietly. She fidgeted for two to three minutes and then pronounced, "I just all done sleeping."
Today, as Court was putting Addie down for her nap and giving her some warm milk, Addie pulled the sippy cup away from her mouth and said, "Will you please get it warmer?"

First Accident
After she went, she wanted to wear just her elmo panties so I let her. We were just organizing some of her spring clothes in her room and she was playing and having a good time. After a little while, I asked her to go potty once again but she said no, so I didn't push it.
It was getting to be nap time so I was just putting a few more things away and she ran downstairs to get her bebe. Literally, not even a minute or two after she came downstairs, I hear her yelling:
"Mom, I sink(think) it's water!", "I sink it's water, Mom!"
I came running downstairs to find she had peed all over the couch.
I wasn't thrilled with what she had done but I was having a hard time not laughing at her telling me it was water. I also knew I had made the rookie mistake of asking her to go to the potty instead of telling her to go potty. I also knew from the books that you can't get mad at them for doing it - you just calmly clean them up and move on. So, that's what we did.
Lucky for us, our couch is Dry Clean only so I guess I'll be taking the covers to the dry cleaners when she wakes up!

It's beginning...
I was getting Addie ready for her nap and noticed her diaper was still dry from when I had changed it earlier. I knew she'd had liquids since and was probably needing to go so I asked her if she wanted to sit on her potty. Of course she wanted to- anything to postpone taking a nap!
I took it in her room and we read through a couple of books while she sat on it (or wiggled around on it). I went to get her off to put her diaper on and she had gone! I was surprised and so was she! She got a little treat for going and we called Dad to tell him.
Our next few attempts were not so fruitful and I was convincing myself it was just good timing but she wanted to go on it again so bad! She sat there for like 20-30 min each time which is pretty much unheard of for Addie! I was a little worried she'd get discouraged and never want to try again.
We tried again the next afternoon and this time, she actually went! She was very excited about it and wanted to try again immediately. I could tell that all of a sudden, something clicked in her head and she realized what she needed to do to go. That night, when Clay got home, she sat down and immediately went.
She loves to wear only her panties but I'm not quite brave enough to let her wear them for too long. It is cute to see her little bum in those little girl panties though!
We've still got a long way to go and I don't plan on doing much more than a few times a day between now and our trip but we're making progress!

First Kiss
Last week, I went to pick Addie up from playing at her friend, Bennett's house. They said goodbye and thanks and gave each other a hug.
Addie then turned to him (still with her arms around him) and said, "Bennett, give Addie a kiss". Bennett gave her a kiss and Addie turned to me excitedly and said, "Mom! Bennett gave Addie a kiss!"
Clay wasn't thrilled that she's already trying to kiss boys (she's wanted to give him a kiss everytime she sees him now). Hopefully this is not a sign of what is to come...
