Six Years Old!

Addie turned SIX years old this month! It's hard to believe it's been that long since she was born!! It feels like just yesterday sometimes! I wish they wouldn't grow up so quickly! She was so excited to finally be 6!!

 

We started the birthday celebrations the night before her actual birthday because Clay had a work event and was not going to be able to be home on her actual birthday.  So, we went out to dinner at McD's and then headed over to Boondocks for some fun! Our kids love that place. 

After Boondocks, we came home and she opened a present (the Wizard of Oz on DVD). 

The morning of her birthday, she woke up bright and early! It was a school day so we got her ready and headed out the door to school.  

Since the beginning of the year, she has needed me to walk her in to the school to her classroom.  We'd mentioned that when winter came, we wouldn't be doing it anymore and she told us when she was six, we could do the drop off lane.  So, on her birthday, I asked her if she was ready and she was! She hopped out of the car, found a few friends and off to school she went!!!  SO PROUD!!!!

I decided to go help at school since it was her birthday.  She got a birthday crown, they sang to her and made a birthday tunnel for her to run through! Here is a picture of her with her friend, Natalie, on the playground at recess. 

After school, she was so excited because I had picked up some butterfly duct tape at the store that day.  She spent some time making some duct tape bracelets for her and her friends. 

She got to open Will's present after school as well.  Unfortunately, Will was so sad that he didn't get to open it for her so we had some tears for that- but she was excited to get another barbie and some accessories to go with it. 

While Will was napping, she had a couple friends over to play.  They were making stuff with the duct tape and then they all sat down to watch the latest Barbie movie we checked out at Redbox.

That night, Grandma came over and we went out to dinner at Red Robin! 

When we got home, Grandma gave her a very special birthday present! She had made a quilt for her! It's a beautiful quilt with a beautiful story and Addie is such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful and loving Grandma!

Happy Birthday to my beautiful six year old!!! We love you and are so proud of you!

Halloween!

Halloween is always a busy day around here and this year was no different!   Addie wanted to be Dorothy and Will wanted to be Buzz again!

We started it off with a parade at Addie's school at 8:45am! Will loved seeing all the kids in the different costumes walk by! Addie made a cute little Dorothy!!!

After the parade, Will came home with Grandma and I stayed at the school to help with Addie's class party.  They played a few different games and then had a snack and read spooky stories in the dark! The kids had a lot of fun.

 

Once school was over, we grabbed Will and headed up to the Capitol to meet Gaga for lunch and to go trick or treating around the Governor's office!  It was fun spending time with Gaga!

 

  

 

On our way home, we stopped by Clay's office so the kids could see him and say hello! I think they were coming down off a sugar high because they were just sitting and laying on the floor of his office!

 

  

 

That evening it was our neighbor's annual garage party! We were so glad to have nice weather so we weren't all crammed into the garage (last year it was raining)!  There was a lot of good food and tons of kids to play with!

   

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once it started to get a little dark, the kids were ready to start trick-or-treating!  Aidan and Amare came over to trick -or-treat with them and I stayed home to pass out the candy!  Will finally had enough about 7:30....he came home to play and eat!  Addie came home shortly after and had fun helping pass out candy to the remaining trick or treaters.

Pumpkin Carving

We finally got around to carving our pumpkins the night before Halloween!  We turned on The Nightmare Before Christmas for some ambiance and got to cleaning and carving.  

The kids aren't big fans of cleaning the seeds and stuff out- so Clay and I usually have to do most of that.

 

Clay started off making a Jack Skellington face with our white pumpkin.  

Addie did a great job poking the holes in the design of hers and then I helped her carve it.

Will loved poking the holes so he spent the whole time poking random holes all over his pumpkin.  When I finished with Addie's, I carved a face in his.

 

Clay spent most of the evening working on our LARGE pumpkin.  I was surprised he was even going to carve it! It took quite a bit of effort just to get the top/lid cut out because the pumpkin was so thick.  The seeds were so giant!
