In the past, we've had Clay's mom go with us and she is very helpful in the car, during the race, etc. This year it didn't work for her to come with us so we braved it alone. We purchased a portable DVD player for the car and it's already been money well spent!
We left the house about 10:30 and by about 10:45-11, Addie was asking to go home already! We stopped and got a Jamba Juice and turned on her DVD player and she was in heaven!
She did great on the ride down despite sleeping for only about 45 min. Once we got there- we were pretty much busy the rest of the evening. We got back to the hotel after 9 and didn't get to sleep till after 10:30! Once she woke up the next morning, she sat up and rubbed her eyes. I asked her if she was sleepy and she burst into tears saying, "I want my bed, I want to go home"! I felt so bad! She was happy once we turned on a movie. We went and watched Clay finish the race- he did great! I am so proud of him for running it! It's not something I could ever do! He stopped on his way to the finish and picked up Addie to carry her across the finish line. She got a little scared by all the loud music and stuff going on at the finish so she was crying (they are on the far right side-he's in a white shirt-dark shorts).
She cheered up once Daddy brought her a popsicle (practically the same size as her!)
We spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday hanging out with my aunt, uncle and cousins. It was a lot of fun. We enjoyed having some other kids to take care of and play with Addie so we could relax a little more. We even got to go out to dinner with just the adults once the little kids were in bed! It was great! Addie had a lot of fun spending time with them too- she still asks me where they all are!
We drove back Sunday evening and Addie did great on the way home as well....thanks to the wonderful DVD player. She was so happy to be home though. She was running around the house, rolling on the floors, laughing and giggling at everything.
I always get nervous and anxious about how it's really going to go and I'm always wrong- it always ends up being a lot of fun and a good time. See you next October St. George!
