Need Help & Ideas

As part of my preparation for this baby, I'm trying to come up with a list of activities, crafts, projects and other ideas for Addie to be able to do. I don't want her watching TV all day long so I need to have things on hand to keep her busy.

So, if any of you have anything you'd like to share please e-mail me or post a comment!

Some of the things I have already come up with (but feel free to add to or expound on):
Work on Letter Recognition (mostly lowercase)
Work on Number Recognition
PlayDoh
Painting
Coloring
Stickers
Gluing & Cutting
Stamping

Thanks for your help!

OK, have you ever heard of the things called Pearler Beads? My kids can do those for hours on end. Any craft store has them. Roberts has the best variety of colors and patterns. Also, next time your at Target take a gander down the "art isle" and pick up some of their sparkly pipe cleaner. My nieces dig those!

I heard of people doing finger painting with pudding. The clean-up is easy, it doesn't stain and if they stick their little fingers in it they won't get sick.

I love the really big puzzles with the extra large pieces. We got an abc one, my kids would put it together, then I'd put a piece of cereal on each letter, and if they knew the letter, they could eat the cereal. The puzzles have been a hit around here. I found quite a few at Ross.

Add to your list playdate with Brylie. We'd love to have Addie come and play when you need a break or a nap or really whenever!

How about a sensory bin? I did this with Maddie way back when and her preschool always had one. SOmetimes I put rice in it, or oatmeal, or potting soil, or you can even freeze a block of ice with little toys frozen inside and she can play with it and pour water over it to get the toys out.

It's not clean though... :)

as the holidays roll around, go to web sites like family fun.com and get some cute ideas... and they have cute crafts to do with addie and stuff. all you have to do is print and then you can make spiders, and fun activities..

ALSO, for christmas, i love the pipe cleaner with beads, and you can make them into candy canes and fill with sparkly beads and hang on your tree... so much fun!
good luck! i can't believe baby is ALMOST HERE!

when i was pregnant, i felt the same way, about having them only watch tv! but sometimes... you gotta rest and just let them watch tv! you know! YAY for disney channel! haha just kidding ! (But seriously, i know it is hard, but you do need to rest too! )
good luck with everything! LOVE YOU!

I just found a great site, http://www.makeandtakes.com/ that has tons and tons of fun ideas for kids. I did the colored pasta one with Elise (on the second page) and she loved dyeing all the noodles, but wasn't such a big fan of the necklaces. Still, I'm sure Addie would love a ton of the ideas and most of them are pretty easy! Good luck! 12 days, I can't believe it!

I have been trying to think. Guess we aren't too creative over here. Ezra loves trucks, cars, trains, tools, balls, and they can keep him busy for hours. I guess we do love to go to the library and get books. I'll keep thinking.
