Mother Addie
It is becoming very clear that I passed on the "mothering gene" (or if you ask my brothers- it's the bossy & annoying 2nd mother gene) to Addie. I don't know whether it's a blessing or a curse. I am glad that she is such a nurturer and so sweet but I know we're going to have issues with a "bossy" older sister when she has siblings.
Addie absolutely LOVES babies. She loves to hold them (with help of course), look at them, touch them, kiss them, give them their binky (especially when they don't want it), etc. She is always very concerned when they are sad or if she hears them crying. She thinks they are all "so cute". She really is so sweet with them- it's very fun to watch.
She also loves her Baby Elmo- he pretty much goes everywhere with her, binky and bebe(her blankie). She is always wrapping him up in bebe and carrying him around very carefully. Many times, in the car, we'll look back and she's sitting in her seat, carefully cradling a wrapped Baby Elmo in her arms. It's a precious sight.
She's also been seen "bouncing" and "shhing" her Elmo or dolls like we do a real baby. She will be such a good big sister when she has a sibling- although, I fear I will have my hands full just trying to keep the baby from being mauled with love by Addie.
Of course, this mothering gene does not only apply to babies. She is already like a second mother to her friends (when I was younger, my friend, Lisa, was always having to tell me that I wasn't the boss of her). Addie is always yelling for them to come back when they've gone too far, hugging them or comforting them when sad. She's a good friend but I'm sure she'll be the one that is always bossing everyone around.
Despite following in my footsteps & being bossy, I'm sure she'll make a great sister & mother someday!

I don't remember you having the mothering gene. Maybe I was always too insistent on being the boss for you to ever show it to me. Addie is so cute!
Well, only one of us can have the mothering gene or "bossy gene"- and yours must have overpowered mine when we were younger.
