It's beginning...

I have recently been reading some potty training books to decide what would be the best way to start with potty training Addie. She's had interest in the potty but had never actually gone on it. I had plans to wait until at least after March when we are going on a little trip but the other day an opportunity presented itself so I decided to give it a try.

I was getting Addie ready for her nap and noticed her diaper was still dry from when I had changed it earlier. I knew she'd had liquids since and was probably needing to go so I asked her if she wanted to sit on her potty. Of course she wanted to- anything to postpone taking a nap!

I took it in her room and we read through a couple of books while she sat on it (or wiggled around on it). I went to get her off to put her diaper on and she had gone! I was surprised and so was she! She got a little treat for going and we called Dad to tell him.

Our next few attempts were not so fruitful and I was convincing myself it was just good timing but she wanted to go on it again so bad! She sat there for like 20-30 min each time which is pretty much unheard of for Addie! I was a little worried she'd get discouraged and never want to try again.

We tried again the next afternoon and this time, she actually went! She was very excited about it and wanted to try again immediately. I could tell that all of a sudden, something clicked in her head and she realized what she needed to do to go. That night, when Clay got home, she sat down and immediately went.

She loves to wear only her panties but I'm not quite brave enough to let her wear them for too long. It is cute to see her little bum in those little girl panties though!

We've still got a long way to go and I don't plan on doing much more than a few times a day between now and our trip but we're making progress!
