She's now 3.5 years old and the 3's have proven to be the hardest age for us. She is still our fun, crazy Addie but we've started to really struggle with listening, being too crazy, a little too loving with Will, sassiness, back talking, screaming, crying, well, you get the picture.
I think a large part of what we are experiencing with her is stemming from the loss of her nap. Ever since we got rid of the binkie, it's been harder and harder to get her to take a nap and finally, the battle to get the nap was no longer worth it. She does pretty good most days but I think her body is still trying to adjust to less sleep so some days are not so great! We are still having quite a few days where I'm finding her asleep on the couch around 4 o'clock!
She has always been a technology lover like her dad, but we've struggled with her using the computer mouse. I usually have to be right by the computer so I can change the game or picture for her. One day, she just figured it out and it has been so nice! She loves to play on the computer and it's been good for her to practice her listening skills. I'm amazed at how well and correctly she can play the games and navigate around them. It's been nice to have a new activity she enjoys doing.
Addie is sporting a new haircut these days. Her hair was getting pretty long since her last cut in September. It was good having it long because her daily hairstyle request was a pony tail. The last haircuts haven't gone very well but she did great this time. She was very proud of her new hairstyle- especially the sparkles they put in her hair!
She loves her little brother so much. Sometimes too much. She is a good big sister to him most of the time. I love watching them play and laugh together.
Now that he can get around, she's having a hard time sharing things that have always been "hers" that are now "his" because they are baby toys. Of course, he always wants the things that are not baby toys anyway!
Despite getting things ripped out of his hands many times a day, he thinks the world of her and is always so happy to see her. He loves to follow her around and play with her things. He is giddy when she's not home and I let him go play in her room!
Some of her favorite things right now: licorice, going to the "little cart store" with Grandma or Grandpa, playing with Clay's iPhone, her friends, "colored" pancakes (swedish pancakes with food coloring), singing, warm chocolate milk, riding her bike, her dogs, swimming, Krystal, digging, playing on the computer, her Grandparents, watching shows, and spending time with her cousins.

She has done a lot of activities so far this summer. We continued to do art class through the end of June, we've visited Thanksgiving Point several times, the park, the aquarium, and she is currently attending 5 days of "school" (camp) at a local art center (3 hrs a day without me)!
In the coming weeks, she's going to be doing some swim lessons with her cousins and probably lots of swimming here, more trips to Farm Country and the aquarium. She will be starting pre-school two days a week after Labor Day.
Addie is always cracking us up with the things she comes up with- there are just too many to write down. I need a camera on her 24/7! Here are some of the things I can remember:
"Mom, who turned on the sprinklers in the clouds?" (one day when it was raining)
"Mom, do you think I could take one of them home?" (very desperately, after watching the baby bunnies at the farm- thank goodness for me you can't!)
"Dad was mean at me" (Dad got mad at her for doing something)
"What a beautiful place" (as we go through the drive thru at Sonic!)
"Mom, do you think if I gave you some money, you could buy me some more sparkles for my hair?" (the day after her hair cut when they put some sort of glitter spray in her hair)
"Mom, my grandpa is cool. He gives me tickle kisses." (after talking to him on the phone one night)
According to Addie, the binkie fairy, is going to come and make some of her stuffed animal dogs real. When they get real, they are going to get big and have baby puppies. (I think this is stemming from Pinocchio).
A: Mom, Did you know that Bennett has two grandmas? Is that silly? (laughing)
M: That's not silly, you have two Grandmas too.
A: No I don't!
M: Yes you do! Gaga is your Grandma even though you call her Gaga.
A: No she's not!!! She's my GAGA! (in a very- you're crazy mom voice!)
Tonight as she was going to bed, I took her in one of her many stuffed animals, babies, etc. she needs to have to go to sleep. As I was leaving, I told her she needs to go to sleep now. She just looks up at me and says, "You're a genius, Mom". Where does she get these kinds of things? Seriously? A genius? lol.
"Look, it's the uncles and the girls (her aunts)!"
Everything is happening next week, next week it's her birthday, next week she's going to Disneyland, next week she's getting married, etc. She also uses the word actually quite often.
There are many, many more funny things she says- I need to keep better track and post them more often!
She certainly keeps us on our toes and laughing and shaking our heads at all the things she says and does. She loves life and we love her!

She is so dang cute! I love documenting the cute things they say. She's very clever.
She is so cute! I was just thinking about it, the last time we saw Addie in person was just before she turned one. It has been way too long since we have got together! We really need to plan something!
