Fat Guy in a Little Slide

On Wednesday, Clay came home for a little bit to hang with Addie so I could go to my doctor's appointment. I was on my way home when I received a call from him saying we might have to head back up to the Dr.

He thought that Addie might have broken her arm. They were out playing on the slide (yes, he was on the slide too) when somehow, her arm got caught and he heard a pop and she started crying. Any movement of her arm resulted in tears of pain.

Since her arm was not disfigured, we waited to get in to her pediatrician. We kept telling her that the doctor was going to make her arm feel better but she didn't want to go.

On our way to the doctor, Addie said to Clay, "Daddy, don't pop my arm again". As if he didn't feel bad enough...

The physical exam was inconclusive- it didn't look broken but there did look to be a little swelling in her wrist. We went off to have it x-rayed which despite it just being pictures of her arm, she was not happy. According to the x-ray, there was no break anywhere in her tiny little arm.

So, she was diagnosed with a sprained wrist, a splint was put on to keep it from moving around too much and we were sent on our way. She was not loving the splint and on the way out, she said, "My arm doesn't feel better".

After a little more sulking on the couch, we finally got her up and moving around (you would have thought she'd broken her legs with the way she was acting)! She perked up after a visit from Grandpa and Grandma and she's already figuring out all sorts of ways to make use of the arm and thumb despite having her fingers and hand all wrapped up.

We are glad it was just a sprain as the splint is mainly for her comfort and only has to stay on for a week at most and we can take it off for baths! On to the next adventure! This little girl keeps us on our toes!

Oh sad--- I am glad that she didn't break her arm but that is not fun she is still in a splint. She must be a tough child.

I feel so bad for poor Addie! I hope the splint is close to coming off! Elise would hate to have anything on her arm like that. What will that girl do next??

I'm so glad it wasn't any worse!! I'm just waiting for something like this to happen with us. As far as preschool, I just have her in one in somebody's home. As it goes on longer, I'll let you know if I recommend it.
