We kind of had a Mother's Day weekend! My Mother's Day present was getting a new bedroom set, including a king bed and having it all put together so we could use it! It took us all Saturday but we managed to get everything set up and I love it! Here is a before and after shot...it's such a nice change after almost 12 years of our old stuff!
Addie couldn't wait to give me her present from school. They made a Kindergarten cookbook and all of the kindergartners wrote their own recipes! It's so cute!!! I love it. Addie's was Chocolate Souffle. :)
She also made a cute little plate for me a few weeks earlier with Grandma. I love the plate too.
Mother's Day was nice! Clay made beignets for breakfast and then we went to church and then came home and had the Blackham side over for dinner. The boys did all the planning and cooking so that was nice. We just ate, let the kids play and hung out.
Everyone went home around 7 and we started to get the kids ready for bed. Then the night turned a bit crazy! I gave Will a piggyback ride upstairs and decided to go to the bathroom only to find that I was bleeding. Obviously, at 34 weeks, blood is not a welcome sight. I tried to remain calm so as not to alarm the kids (Addie's anxiety is SUPER high right now) and told Clay that we needed to hurry and get them in bed and then head to the hospital.
I called my parents and they headed straight out and then once the kids were in bed, we had a neighbor come over and stay here till my mom and dad arrived. Unfortunately, as soon as the garage door opened, Addie was downstairs and in tears but was able to calm down- especially once Grandma and Lexi arrived!
We called the hospital on the way and gave them as much information as we could over the phone so it would be a quick process once we arrived. Luckily, the bleeding hadn't been too bad and it was stopped by the time we got to the hospital and checked in. They set me up on a monitor to see what was going on and thank goodness the baby was moving and his little heart was still beating. My Dad arrived at the hospital to assist Clay in giving me a blessing and then we just waited to see what was going on. I was having contractions and so they were monitoring to see what was going to happen with them.
By midnight, they were getting fairly regular- about every 3 min. and while they weren't painful, I could definitely feel them and was not able to sleep through them. At this point, they gave us two options- go home, rest and see what happens with the possibility that they won't stop and I'd be back later that day or go ahead with the pre-term labor protocol and give me the drugs to stop the contractions. Since we really weren't ready to have the baby and we didn't want to have to deal with NICU stuff if we didn't have to, we decided to go ahead with the drugs to stop the labor and hope that they would work.
Unfortunately, they had an emergency come up and were short staffed so we ended up sitting around waiting for the drugs for 2 more hours. Not the greatest 2 hours of my life having constant contractions! Before they gave me the drugs, I'd gone from completely closed to being 1 cm dilated but the baby was still really high. They finally got me started on the drugs around 2am and it took 4 different rounds (and that was all they could give me- so good thing it finally worked) before the contractions slowed/stopped. They waited an hour and checked me and I was still 1cm so they said we could finally go home about 5am! What a night!
Poor Grandpa had slept here in his suit! We relieved him at 5:30 and he went back home and we slept till the kids woke up. Clay took the day off. My mom came and picked both kids up once Addie was done with school so that Clay and I could get some sleep. I was just told to take it easy for a few days- as I probably had just overdone it those weeks prior!!!
It sure made for a memorable Mother's Day! There was definitely a point where I wasn't sure we'd be leaving the hospital without a baby!!! I'm glad we were able to keep him in to bake a little longer. :)
