Super Star of the Week

Addie's week to be Super Star of the Week at school was the first week in October. As the super star, they get to be the teachers special helper, always be at the front of the line, have their poster posted on the door to the classroom, they get to go see the principal's office and on the Thursday of their week, they get a special song sung to them by the class and they get to bring in the super star bucket and have their mom or dad come share something special about them.

In the bucket, they have to bring five things that represent a "memory" as defined in a book they read. The categories are:

1) something warm- She took her ladybug blanket that Grandma made her. It is soft and warm.

2) something from long ago- She took her favorite stuffed animal dogs, Dodger and Lily who have been her "friends" since she was about 2 years old.

3) something that makes you cry- She took a fake spider- because she does not like spiders!

4) something that makes you laugh- She immediately thought of Grandpa, then moved on to Nacho Libre and finally settled on the movie, Little Rascals, because it's funny.

5) something as precious as gold- She took her "bebe", or her lovey/special blankie. This has been precious as gold since she was about 6 months old!! She sleeps with it every night.

I thought this was a cute way to share some things about yourself. The funny thing about it is- she could have taken her "bebe" and it could have represented all those categories! It's warm, it's from long ago, it makes her cry when she can't find it, it makes her laugh/giggle with delight when she is wanting it and it's definitely precious as gold!!!

It was fun to go to school and see her share these things with her class and get to tell them some of my favorite things about Addie. I told them that we love that she is such a good big sister to her brother, that she is such a happy and fun girl, and that she's so kind and loving to everyone around her!

Great job Addie!
