Weekend with Mama and Papa

While we were in St. George, the kids stayed with Grandpa (papa) and Grandma (mama). Will had been a little nervous about it since he's never really slept anywhere but home or a hotel (with me)...so this was a new experience for him!

As I mentioned in my last post, they got ice cream and donuts before we'd even been gone an hour!!! They came back home so Will could have a good nap and Addie was heading to her school carnival for a little while.

Once Will was down for his nap, Grandma gave Addie an early birthday present...a REAL SEWING MACHINE just her size!!! Addie was so excited. She loves to sew and both her Grandma's indulge her with it...but now I'm going to have to learn again! It didn't take her long to get the hang of it...here is a little video of her sewing with it!

She sewed the outside of a little pillow for her cousin James!

That night, they went down to the BYU game with Papa and Mama. They got home late and went to bed quickly (thank goodness!!!) She and Will slept in sleeping bags in the guest bedroom. Will woke Addie up early on Saturday morning and they would not go back to sleep despite Grandma's attempt!!!

They went to Addie's soccer game that morning and then went back to Mama's house and decorated haunted houses with frosting and candy. Will made a huge mess and his pretty much ended up being a big blob of candy and frosting. Addie is more of a minimalist when it comes to these kinds of things.

Addie finished sewing the little pillow and gave it to James! Not sure who's happier...Grandma or Addie!

That night while the boys went to priesthood, the kids stayed home with the girls and did some painting.

They had a late dinner when the boys got home and then the kids went to bed at 10pm!!! I think that's a new record for Conference Saturday....and maybe even for Papa and Mama's house!!! They were exhausted and slept till after 9 on Sunday morning! Phew!

They watched conference and played with everyone. We came to get them around 5pm. Addie came running over with hugs and so happy to see us....Will barely acknowledged our return! He just kept playing with his cars! He finally came over and gave me a hug after 10-15 min. of us being there!

We were so happy to hear that the kids were good and that they had a great time without us! I'm sure they wore Papa and Mama out....but the kids loved it! Will didn't want to come home...once we were in the car, he wanted to get out and go back inside!

Thanks for being so willing to watch the kids for us, Mom and Dad! We really appreciate it!!!!
