We decided to go with a Mickey Mouse theme since he is so in love with Mickey at this time in his life. He wasn't too sure about the balloons but he was very excited about his Mickey Mouse cake! I was going to try and make him a small "smash" cake but the bakery we ordered his cake from said they would give us a "1st birthday" cake to go with it. We thought it would be little but it ended up being an 8" cake! The regular cake got a little smashed courtesy of Addie!
The amount of people in our house and some not as familiar faces for him started him off a little scared and overwhelmed.
We had some yummy pizza then hurried into the cake because Will was getting tired. He just didn't know what to think of the cake and everyone staring at him. It will definitely be served best by a video of us singing Happy Birthday to him!
Needless to say, the cake and frosting were not a hit (at least not till he was all cleaned up and eating it off a fork!
Once that traumatic experience was over, he got a little braver and started walking around and exploring things on his own.
He found some presents so we went ahead and opened his presents (which he didn't care about- just wanted to play with the ones that were out!) He got some fun presents and has enjoyed having some new and different toys to play with!
When the house started clearing out again, he was happy to be able to walk around and do his own thing- especially when the door was left open and he escaped outside! It ended up being a beautiful day- we should have had the party outside!
